Unsolved Society

Unsolved Society Privacy Policy

Effective September 25, 2026 · Ages 18+

Who operates Unsolved Society

Unsolved Society is operated by Serena Jackson in the United States. You can contact us about privacy or your account at support@joinunsolved.com.

Unsolved Society is a private, single-player investigation game presented as a forum. The other Society members are simulated characters. Other players cannot browse your Society or contact you through it. This separation between players does not prevent the service operator and service providers from processing the information needed to run the game.

Information we collect

Account information. We store your email address, forum handle, account identifiers, verification status, and the version and date of your account consent, including your 18+ confirmation, terms acceptance, simulation disclosure, and permission for AI data sharing. Email-and-password accounts use a password hash. We do not store your password as plain text or collect a birth date for the age confirmation.

Information from Apple or Google. If you choose social sign-in, we receive the account identifier and profile information supplied by that provider, which may include your name, email address, verification status, and profile image. We store the information and authentication tokens needed to maintain that connection. Apple may provide a private relay email address instead of your personal email address. We do not receive your Apple or Google password.

Your activity and content. We store your posts, messages to simulated members, reactions, bookmarks, preferences, reading state, and case progress. We also store generated replies and game state, including simulated relationships and memories derived from interactions, so your Society can continue between visits.

Security and operational information. Sessions can include an IP address, browser or device information, and sign-in and expiry times. We keep information about rate limits, email delivery, errors, and AI usage to operate the service, diagnose problems, control costs, and prevent abuse. Operational records can include content associated with an interaction.

Support messages. If you email us, we receive your address, message, and any attachments you choose to send. Avoid sending passwords, sign-in links, payment details, or other sensitive information in a support request.

How we use information

We use this information to create and secure your account, verify your email, recover access, maintain your private Society, generate character responses, save progress and preferences, answer support requests, investigate errors or misuse, and comply with applicable obligations.

AI-generated conversations

When an AI-powered response is generated, relevant game context is sent to OpenAI. That context can include your forum handle, posts or messages, recent conversation history, interaction summaries, simulated relationships, and game evidence. A pseudonymous identifier may also be sent for abuse prevention.

Information you put in a message can be included in that context. Do not share information you do not want processed for a character response. Simulated members are not confidential human advisers, and generated responses can be inaccurate.

Account setup asks for your permission before sending this information to OpenAI. You can decline and leave setup without entering the game, or stop using the game and delete your account later. If the disclosure changes in a way that requires renewed permission, we will ask again before continuing the affected processing.

Your account password and provider sign-in credentials are not part of the game context supplied to the AI provider. The application requests that generated responses not be stored as retrievable responses by the provider; this does not mean the provider has no operational or security retention.

Service providers and other disclosures

The current service uses:

Providers process information according to the service arrangements and policies that apply to them. Information may be processed outside your country. We may also disclose information when required by applicable law or reasonably necessary to address fraud, security incidents, or threats to people's rights or safety.

The current preview has no advertising integrations or targeted-advertising features. Your posts and messages are not published to other players as part of normal gameplay.

Cookies and device storage

The website uses session cookies and preference storage for sign-in and settings such as appearance. The mobile app stores its session credentials using the device's secure storage and keeps local data needed to operate the app. Signing out ends access through that session; uninstalling the app does not itself delete the server-side account.

Retention and deletion

Account and gameplay information is retained to maintain your account and persistent Society. Security, support, delivery, and diagnostic records may be retained for their operational purpose and applicable legal obligations. The preview does not currently apply a single automatic deletion period to all stored information.

You can delete your own posts and messages through the available content controls. Depending on their age and whether a conversation has continued, the interface removes them or shows a deleted placeholder. Deleting one message does not undo existing replies, derived game state, or every related operational record.

Use Delete account in Settings to permanently remove your account and its private Society, including posts, messages, generated memories, and case progress, from the active database. This also ends your sessions and removes stored sign-in connections. You may need to confirm your password or sign in again to verify the request. Deletion takes effect when the request completes; if a sign-in provider cannot be reached, we explain the error so you can retry.

Deletion cannot recall information already processed by a service provider. Copies may remain in provider backups, delivery logs, support correspondence, or security records under the retention practices and legal obligations that apply to those records. We do not promise immediate removal of every provider-held copy.

Contact support@joinunsolved.com to request access, correction, or help with deletion of personal information. We may need to verify that the account belongs to you. Some information may need to be retained for security or legal reasons.

Your choices and rights

You can choose email, Apple, or Google sign-in when available, manage the preferences provided in the app, sign out, and use the available content controls. You can also stop using the service and contact us about your information. Depending on where you live, applicable law may provide additional rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to processing, obtain a copy of information, or complain to a privacy authority.

Audience and changes

Unsolved Society is intended only for people aged 18 and older. The game's stories can include mature themes. We do not knowingly offer the service to, or collect personal information from, anyone under 18. If you believe an underage person has created an account, contact support@joinunsolved.com so we can review the account and take appropriate action.

We will update this policy when our practices change and show its effective date. Material changes will be communicated through the service or account contact details where appropriate.
